About Godly Fiction
Ever heard the phrase, "You just had to be there?
This sentiment often finds its essence in non-fiction and biographical literature, where the author shoulders the responsibility to convey the emotional and mental processes that steer a person’s real-life actions. However, in the realm of fiction, the author possesses the liberty to acquaint the reader with characters in ways that surpass the possibilities of other literary forms.
A skilled author can articulate a character’s psyche, delineating their motivations, aspirations, victories, defeats, passions, and dislikes, along with every other aspect of their physical and spiritual existence. By this means, the necessity to explain every detail surrounding why a character performs a certain action is diminished. Instead, by the time the fictitious individual acts, the reader, having developed a deep and intimate understanding of the character, perceives the underlying reasons clearly.
In essence, the fiction writer inducts you into the character’s mind. The reader, therefore, experiences the character’s journey as if they were there, in person. In a unique way, fiction provides the reader an inside view, making the phrase “you just had to be there” tangible and intimately connected to the character’s narrative.
